EXPERIENCE

April 2019-Present

LOCKHEED MARTIN, Orlando, FL                                                      www.lockheedmartin.com

Data Scientist Analyst Staff

Leads and contributes to the creation and development of models, forecasts, simulations, dashboards, and analysis/insights using internal and external Human Resources data. Manages multiple long-term projects. Reporting to Senior Manager of People Analytics and Technology.

Selected Accomplishments

  • Analyzed the viability of multiple long-term workforce solutions and made recommendations that result in $4+ million in saved costs based on simple statistics methods (Utilized Chi-Square test of proportions or Fisher’s Exact Test when appropriate, ANOVA or Kruskal-Wallis, t-tests).
  • Built application in Tableau that utilizes Rserve() to generate neural network time series models to determine future overtime charging for multiple groupings chosen by filters and parameters.
  • Created model run weekly to forecast PTO charging for 80% of the MFC population using R. Average accuracy in headcount averages around 95% (Utilized multiple time series methods). Determined top users (or soon to be top users) through decision trees until strong sensitivity found.
  • Co-led initiative to generate forecasts for terminations and retirements for key skill groups within MFC in R. Used existing code and contributed to successfully integrating new population in current attrition models (utilized logistic regression, decision trees, adaptive boosting).
  • Consulted regularly for guidance on experimental design, power analysis, feature engineering, principal components analysis.

December 2015-March 2019

WILEY EDUCATION SERVICES, Maitland, FL                             https://edservices.wiley.com/

Statistician

Cleaned, munged, formatted data for statistical analysis. Ran mathematical models on large sets of data. Consulted on research design for projects. Managed multiple medium-term projects. Reported to Director of Decision Sciences.

Selected Accomplishments

  • Facilitated focus groups to persuade company to move to a standard roster.
  • Cleaned roster data for several thousand students using R (relevant packages used: dplyr, magrittr, sqldf). Created automated updates and reporting in Excel.
  • Utilized roster data for Markov Chain model that determined probability of student persistence.
  • Started and taught bi-weekly R meetings for those in the company who wanted to learn R.
  • Clustered IPEDS data to create segments to differentiate between institution types.
  • Finalist in company-wide Innovation Challenge for second year. Project to predict persistence and retention in online programs, create automated reports, and determine training needs.

Associate Market Strategy and Research Analyst

Conducted secondary research related to university degree programs to report trends and determine best choices for multi-million-dollar investments. Reported to Manager of Market Strategy and Research.

Selected Accomplishments:

  • Created and maintained relational database in Microsoft Access to house industry trends data.
  • Competed as a finalist in the annual company-wide Innovation Challenge that suggested the use of an annual survey to better market programs. Report from survey came out this year.

Graduate Research Assistant

Supported research projects by reviewing literature; performing data collection; cleansing and analyzing data using various coding languages (python, .xml, SPSS); and organizing, planning, and implementing research studies. Reported to Lab Director.

Selected Accomplishments:

  • Wrote and presented multiple articles at international conferences across the United States.
  • Developed and implemented physiological sensor training.
